It is our goal to provide you with the best available care and facilities at a reasonable cost. We are a for profit private practice and operate entirely without local, state, or federal funding or charitable contributions. We wish to provide you an atmosphere of warmth and caring so that coming here is a pleasant experience for you. Our primary concern is your health and welfare.
Dr. Smith is a member of several insurance panels as a preferred provider.

Conjoint Marital Therapy
If you wish to use your health insurance benefits for conjoint marital therapy sessions where both partners are present please call your insurance company and see if marital therapy is covered in your plan. Marital therapy is not typically considered by insurance to be medically necessary. We honor their rules and will not bill insurance if it is not covered. Dr.Smith provides this service as private pay sessions for $130.00 per hour.
Private Pay Therapy
Private pay therapy is pay as you go therapy. It is confidential and allows you and your therapist to have greater control over your treatment. You don't have to worry about getting authorizations for treatment sessions approved by an insurance company employee that does not know you but only knows what is covered in your insurance plan. Private pay therapy offers you more options including length of treatment, family members included in the therapy, and no labeling with diagnostic codes. For example, many insurance companies limit your number of sessions or refuse to pay for couple or family therapy and insist on a DSM diagnosis.
Private pay therapy also allows you to have control over who has access to your treatment records. In today's world there are many types of data collected. Insurance companies, your employer, your financial institution, the government and many third parties (benefit administration sub-contractors, billing companies, etc.) that you don't even know can and do access you and your loved one's medical records.
Private pay therapy will provide you and your family the freedom and privacy you need and expect.
Referrals
We adhere to high professional standards while delivering our services in a confidential and caring manner. Individuals may refer themselves or be referred through their family physician, agency worker, or employer.
Health Insurance
We do bill a number of insurance companies but you will still be responsible for your deductible and making your co-pay payments at the time of your appointment. Please bring your insurance card to your first visit so that we might make a copy for our files.
Cancellation Policy
If you find it necessary to cancel an appointment, please do so with as much advanced notice as possible. We require a 24-hour notice that you wish to cancel your appointment because there are other clients who could use your canceled time slot. You will be charged a fee for late cancellations.

We are located in Lexington, Kentucky off Man O' War Blvd. between Palumbo Drive and Todds Road in the East Point Office Complex on Darby Creek Road .
Emergency Situations Call 911
If you should find yourself in any of the following situations that are considered emergencies, please call 911 or get yourself to the nearest assessment center (hospital emergency room, etc.) as soon as possible:
- If you have a history of suicidal or violent behavior and you have thoughts of hurting or killing yourself or someone else.
- If you see or hear things that others don't (hallucinations)
- If you are having problems distinguishing what is real (delusions)
- If you are in a life threatening situation
- If you are currently intoxicated and/or under the influence of mind altering drugs and have any of the above circumstances.
